MORE JAZZ NEWS RELEASE TAKE OFF Music Event grandiose program From 8 to June 11, 2017 is the center of Hoofddorp the runway of the twenty TAKE OFF Music Event (formerly More Jazz Festival) and thus the 21st edition of the Corendon International Big Band Competition. The event takes place in all the halls of the Cultural Building of Hoofddorp and on the square. The TAKE OFF Crawl Hoofddorp available on June 8th place in seven Hoofddorp cafes. March 2017 Dear member of the press, More Jazz presents with pleasure the program of the TAKE OFF Music Event 2017. A program with many starting talent, quality and passion for music. A four-day music experience that is pleasing to the ear and very cozy. And where you can develop further as a music enthusiast. This year will also find the 21th edition of the Corendon International Big Band Competition (IBBC) instead. An international competition to big band leader in quality performance and size in Western Europe.The IBBC offers 20 good amateur big bands from around the world a platform where they can compete with each other. This year there is interest from 11 countries and there are big bands from six countries selected among the first big band in America. Last night the Camden Creative Arts Jazz Band along with the Little Jazz Giants traveled to Carneys Point NJ to compete in the Penns Grove High School Jazz Festival. The Little Jazz Giants hit the stage first and received a rating of OUTSTANDING for their performance. Great job guys.
The Camden Creative Arts Jazz Band received a rating of SUPERIOR for their performance with the Trombone and Rhythm sections winning best section awards. Senior Tymier Boyer won a honorable mention soloist award for his work on the bass and seniors Michael Sprearman and Richard Williams won best soloist awards on the trombone and saxophone respectively . Next up on Friday 3,6/2015, the Little Jazz Giants will be traveling to the Pitman High School Jazz Festival where they will hit the stage at 5:00pm. The Camden Creative Arts Jazz band will be going to the Overbrook High School Jazz festival in Pine Hill NJ where they will be first on stage at 4:30pm. On Saturday 3/7/2015, both bands will be competing in the Cheltenham High School Jazz Festival in Wyncote PA with the Little Jazz Giants on stage at 6:40pm and the high school band on stage at 8:15pm On Friday 2/13/2015 the Camden Creative Arts Jazz Band traveled to Rockville. MD to compete in Mid Atlantic Jazz Festivals High School competition . First the jazz combo went up against 7 other high schools and finished in first place. On Saturday the big band was named the first place ahead of Yorktown High School(VA) in second and Lower Moreland High School(PA) in third. Congratulations to all the bands.
Next up the band will be heading to the Pens Grove High School Jazz Festival. With the Little Jazz Giants in Pens Grove NJ on 2/28/2015. The Camden Creative Arts Jazz Band began the 2015 Jazz season in Boston MA at the 47th Annual High School Jazz Festival where they took first place in the L6 Big Band division and first place in the S4 Small Group division. Jamal Dickerson II won the Judges Choice Award for his performance in Big band and Michael Spearman was the Judges Choice in Small Group. Richard Williams and Michael Spearman received Outstanding Musicianship Awards in the Small Group Division.
Next up, the band will be traveling to Rockville MD to compete at the Mid Atlantic Jazz Festival on 2/13 and 14 at the Rockville Hilton Executive Center. State Championship Fish Fry Fundraiser has been rescheduled for 6/21/2014. All tickets with 5/31/2014 date will be honored on 6/21.Our apologizes for the inconvenience. Band Boosters for Creative Arts will be honoring the 2014 NJAJE Division 1
State Champions, The Camden Creative Arts Jazz Band at our year end banquet in late June or early July. We need to raise the money for the hall, catering and book scholarships for our seniors on their way to college. And also their State Championship jackets for a great 2014 jazz season. On 5/31/2014 we will be holding a State Championship Fundraiser Fish Fry were we will be selling Fish and Chicken platters as well as accepting donations for these hard working students from the city of Camden NJ. The event will be held at the 6TH Street Lounge between the hours of 2pm-7pm. Tickets are $10 per platter. All information is on flyer on fundraiser events page. You can get tickets from any band student or off brownpapertickets.com. We asked that you could please get tickets in advanced so that we can have a good idea how much food to prepare for event. Thank you all for your support of these great kids. Congratulations to the Camden Creative Arts High School Jazz Band on winning the NJAJE Division 1 State Championship for the 2nd year in row under the direction of Jamal Dickerson. The band traveled up to J.P. Stevens High School in Edison N.J. to compete with 8 other jazz ensembles that qualified for the championships back in March. Junior trombonist Michael Spearman was awarded 1 of the 4 top soloist of the championships and the Trombone Section won a best section award. Since this is the final competition for this season, the Booster would like to give a special shout out to our senior band members:

The Camden Creative Arts Jazz Band was back at it this past weekend competing at the Willingboro High School Jazz Festival on Friday night receiving a Gold rating for their performance and they also were awarded the Best Sections Awards for the Trumpet, Trombone and Saxophone . It was great to be back at the Willingboro Jazz Festival and look forward to returning in the near future.
On Saturday the band headed to Souderton Area High School to compete in the Duke Ellington Division of the Cavalcade of Bands 2014 Jazz Championships. The band received a rating of Superior with Honors for their performance. Best Section Awards went to the Trumpet and Trombone sections. Junior Trombonist Michael Spearman and Senior Bari Sax player, Dominique Baugh were named outstanding Soloist for the evening. And finally for the 3rd time in 4 years The Camden Creative Arts Jazz Band was named the 2014 Duke Ellington Division Dick Scott Award for being the overall Champion. April 17,2014 at the Creative Arts Morgan Village Academy featuring Award winning jazz ensembles from Cherokee, Overbrook, Highland and Willingboro High School...s. Also performing will be our own Camden High School Jazz band with The Little Jazz Giants and of course The Camden Creative Arts Jazz Band. Tickets are $7 for adults/ $5 for Students &Seniors. Our apologies for the delay in the bands updates. We will give all updates up to this week. On 3/14/2014 the band traveled to Lower Merion High School and received a rating of Superior and also won best Trumpets and Trombone section awards. Junior Michael Spearman received one of the nights best soloists awards. Junior Trumpeter Jamal Dickerson II won a honorable mention soloist award.
On Saturday 3/15/2014 Creative Arts Jazz Band traveled to Fairless Hills PA to compete at the Pennsbury High School Jazz Festival where they scored a rating of Superior and the Trumpet and Trombone Section won best sections awards. Senior drummer Charles Davis and Junior Trombonist Michael Spearman each received outstanding soloist awards. The band was also named Best Overall Band for the evening. Awesome job guys!!!! On 3/21/2014 The Little Jazz Giants traveled with the High School band to Shalick High School Jazz Festival down in Pittsgrove Twp. NJ. The Little Jazz Giants received a rating of OUTSTANDING!!!!!!! Nice Job!!!!! The Creative Arts Jazz Band received a rating of Superior and won best section awards for both the Saxophone and Rhythm Sections. Dominique Baugh won a outstanding soloist award for her vocal performance the bands arrangement of All of Me. On Saturday The Little Jazz Giants and Creative Arts Jazz Band were at the Kingsway High School Jazz Festival where in the middle school portion of the competition, The Little Jazz Giants received a rating of Excellent and 4th grader Hakiee Pratt II won a outstanding solo award on his Trumpet. NICE JOB!!!!!!!! The Creative Arts Jazz Band in the High School Division received a rating of Superior and the Trumpet and Trombone Sections won best section awards. Senior Dominique Baugh won a Outstanding soloist award for Vocals/Bari Saxophone. Juniors Michael Spearman and Jamal Dickerson II also won outstanding solo awards on Trombone and Trumpet respectively. This week the Band will be at the Cavalcade of Bands New Jersey Regional Championships at the Lakeside Performing Arts Center in Millville NJ located at 2 North Sharpe Street Millville NJ 08332. The band is schedule to perform at about 9:45pm. Come out and support the bands efforts at the Championships. |
